The U-HARWARD consortium has been setup to join the well-recognized and very experienced companies, research centres and universities such as IBK and SIEMENS, ONERA, POLIMI, UoB and ISAE. POLIMI, UoB and IBK have a strong experience in the design, manufacturing and operating of WT models for a wide range of Wind Tunnels and applications, including aeroelastic control, modular, motorized and/ or automated wind tunnel models for aerodynamic, aeroelastic, and aero-acoustic measurements, by using a variety of measurement techniques. In particular, the significant experience and heritage of IBK in the design of WT models is a key point from technical and risk management points of view. Furthermore, IBK, POLIMI and UoB cooperated together and contributed to the success of GLAMOUR project, a CS1 project in the framework of the GRA program, which was devoted to the design, manufacturing and implementation of gust generators, an aeroelastic WT model with actively controlled control surface for gust load alleviation and the final successful execution of the WT test campaign at POLIMI. ONERA has a worldwide recognized knowledge in the field of aerodynamics, both numerical and experimental, aeroelasticity and aircraft design, and existing expertise of HARW/SBW concepts through its ALBATROS concept. Moreover, it has developed an integrated capability for the assessment of novel aircraft configurations, both at conceptual and preliminary level, as demonstrated in the Clean Sky AIRFRAME-ITD NACOR project or in several internal projects dedicated for example to SBW, BWB. Furthermore, ONERA investigates since many years’ multidisciplinary methods to enhance the design space exploration, such as optimization algorithms, sensitivity analysis techniques or metamodels building, which have been demonstrated for example in the H2020 AGILE project which received the ICAS award for innovation in aeronautics. A close cooperation is on-going with ISAE on the aircraft design, MDO and aero-structure design aspects. Indeed, ISAE is a world leading University with a long experience in aircraft design and optimization for both aircraft and spaces systems. Finally, Siemens Industry Software SAS (SISW SAS) is organized as a subsidiary of Siemens PLM Software, a business unit of Siemens Digital Factory Division. Siemens PLM Software is a world-leading provider of product lifecycle management (PLM, Product Lifecycle Management) software. Of special importance for U-HARWARD project, Simulation & Test Solutions (STS) is a world leader in digital simulation with powerful multidisciplinary solutions including fluid mechanics, thermal, linear and nonlinear structural analysis.
